The inspiration behind The Happy Homemaker came to my mom, Sandi when she and my dad were on a road trip celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. She was thinking about how she and I (Brandi) could earn an income, while allowing me to stay home with my two young children. After a bit of contemplating she thought to herself that after 40 years of being a housewife, the one thing she knows how to do is run a household. And when I say run a household, I mean doing everything that needs to be done when taking care of a home. Not just the daily and weekly chores, but the woman can cook just about everything from scratch, she can fix anything which may need fixing (inside or out), she knows how to grow a garden (vegetable and flower), she knows how to operate and maintain the lawnmower and trimmer, she knows how to manage the finances of the household and keep it all organized and neat so everything can be found easily. She has been teaching me the fine art of canning for the last few years, and did I mention raised two children along the way? I don't think there is anything my mom can't do, hasn't tried to do, or won't try to do herself. I am amazed at all of the things she knows how to do, and all of this knowledge she has taught me and is still teaching me.

So the idea came to her that she should write a cleaning guide about everything she does on a weekly basis, and hopefully the information would help people who do not know how to run and maintain a household learn how!

We developed the idea of The Happy Homemaker starter kits around the cleaning guide and used all of the items we both use on a weekly basis to help keep our homes clean and comfortable. We developed our products to be functional as well as beautiful and fun. The 1950's apron we use in the starter kits are fashioned after the apron my mom was given to her, by her mother Dorothy. Each apron is made with fabric reminiscent of the 50's era, and we feel is an adorable addition to our starter kits.

We found it impossible however, to fit all of my moms' knowledge into one product, therefore we have been developing other kits for all aspects of homemaking, which we will be featuring on the website soon.

My mom and I are taking homemaking to a new level and we are having a great time doing it! We hope you enjoy our idea, our product and the information within it.
